Beginning in 1963 as a local insurance agency in Cartersville, Georgia, James H. Shaw, Jr., a Cartersville native, grew the Shaw Agency (as we were then known) into a successful family business.

He brought his three sons into the company, eventually leading Georgia International Life’s sales force in individual life insurance sales. In 1998, his son Randy Shaw, and friend and fellow broker Scott Hankins, purchased the Shaw Agency and ShawHankins was born. In the years to follow, they expanded our reach into group health and welfare plans, becoming a market leader in public entity benefits for city and county governments and school systems, but also for private industry. In 2010, Scott Hankins purchased the remainder of the firm and now serves as president and CEO.
